Today, Southeastern PA Rotary leaders announced a 30-day challenge to raise $20,000 for people affected by hurricane Helene in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. The SE PA District pledged $5,000 to kick off the campaign.
“As you know, Hurricane Helene's aftermath has left parts of the United States in a state of devastation, said District Governor, Francy Cross.” The effort is modeled after the campaign to help those affected by the wildfires in Maui in August 2023. “Together, we can make a difference. Whether through donations or spreading the word, your support is invaluable and deeply appreciated.”
Collected funds will go directly to Rotary areas that are most affected by the widespread devastation. Rotary officials in those areas will provide grants to local Rotary clubs to provide equipment, tools, storage, mobile storage units. Rotary officials in those areas expect that the donations will amplify the efforts of volunteers already on the ground. In addition, they will leverage other grants and Rotary International disaster response grants when available to further maximize the impact.
