Elliot Schwartz, long-time member of Chestnut Hill Rotary, has reported that numerous acquaintances of his have noticed that random lobsters were spotted in the Chestnut Hill area.
"This is really strange", noted Schwartz. "I would have thought we would start seeing lobsters starting to congregate closer to our Lobster Fest date of September 23. We have never had them start to gather so early."
Schwartz, who was with long-time friend Rebecca Anwar, said that perhaps this year is different from the successful Lobster Fests in the past. "Of course, we will continue to have Lobster Fest on Gowen Avenue, but we are looking at a major expansion of the number of people who will be attending. Maybe the word has gotten out to the lobster community that in order to be included, they need to arrive early."
"This really is the big event for lobsters," said noted crustacean expert and lobster lover Anwar. "Perhaps they have gone onto the Lobster Fest website page and seen that the event is already being publicized. They might have also seen how easy it is to get tickets to the event just by making a reservation on the website. They clearly see that this could be a raucous and fun-loving crowd."
Schwartz noted that it is important to get tickets early so you can be assured to get your place in the festivities. "I'm so glad that we have enough room for everyone, but we need to keep the lobster community aware of what is going on because we are committed to having enough lobster, corn, cole slaw and dessert for everyone."
"Lobsters may not be for everyone," noted Anwar. "So that's why we make steak available for anyone who wants something besides the tasty craustatian." Anwar noted that a true sign that the event is getting close will be when beef cattle start to be seen in the area as well. "I hope the cattle don't arrive too soon," said Anwar. "I can't have beef cattle grazing too long in my backyard prior to the event."
