This is the first in a series of fun, imaginative stories highlighting Chestnut Hill Rotary’s Lobster Fest.
It took a little creativity to explain away why none of the lobsters invited to last year’s Lobster Fest returned to their home after the event. We told a little white lie and said last year’s lobsters won a Disney cruise in a raffle and decided to stay in Florida.
Despite that hurdle, this year’s invited lobsters are all in on the big event and quickly make a reservation at the Chestnut Hill Hotel for a place to stay. They went to chestnuthillhotel.com where it was incredibly easy to book rooms.
The 200 or so lobsters felt that four rooms would just about do it for all of them, although they had to request first floor accommodation, since none of them were tall enough to push any of the buttons on the elevator.
In another instance of excusable dishonesty, the lobsters were less than truthful when filling out the hotel’s form, by saying that only four lobsters would be in each room. I mean, really, it’s not hard to see that they could fit 50 lobsters in a king-sized bed. They feel they can keep the ruse up by going to their rooms only in groups of two. It is really tough to tell one lobster over another, although, of course, each has their own personality.
Lobster Fest is September 21 this year, and will be held again in the tree-shaded, park-like atmosphere of 240 East Gowen Street. There will be lobsters, corn, coleslaw, desserts galore, and a variety of beverages, both non-alcoholic and adult kinds.
To reserve your spot at Lobster Fest, head over to chestnuthillrotary.org/lobster-fest and follow the prompts to reserve a spot for you, your family or a full table of friends. Or if you prefer, you can write and send a check to Chestnut Hill Rotary Foundation, 200 Montgomery Avenue, Erdenheim, PA 19038. Tickets are $85 each or $800 for a table of 10.
If you are inviting out-of-town friends to the event, certainly think about putting them up at the Chestnut Hill Hotel, which is a great place to stay. They should have some rooms left on September 21, but just a word of warning. Be careful where you walk. Those lobster claws aren’t just for show!
P.S. Here's a short video to watch highlighting this fun event and where the proceeds go.
