Chestnut Hill Rotary provided funding for poverty relief for individuals and families in Northwest Philadelphia through Face to Face Germantown.
Face to Face Germantown provides fresh hot meals, along with legal, health and social services for over 2,500 individuals and families in need.
“What we do is simple,” said Mary Kay Meeks, Executive Director, Face to Face Germantown. “We try to do whatever we can we can do to reduce their suffering and help empower their lives.”
In this short video, Mary Kay-Meeks, Executive Director, provides a quick overview of their services and impact on their clients.
“We are so grateful to Chestnut Hill Rotary. You have been a long-time supporters and this grant is just one more example of the way you have engaged with us,” said Kay-Meeks.
Each year. Chestnut Hill Rotary raises $30,000 and then distributes the funds through its grant program that allocates about 60% locally and 40% internationally.
The club accomplishes this with fundraising efforts through its charitable foundation, operated by its members. Successful events are held each year such as the Lobster Fest, Bingo Night, or sometimes members just “pass the hat” when an individual need arises. The club also utilizes its members’ extensive knowledge of the local and international communities to identify areas of need, and together work to make improvements.
