Philadelphia, PA – The Chestnut Hill Rotary Club proudly announces the launch of The Fund for Northwest Philadelphia, a new initiative aimed at providing ongoing, impactful support to the communities of Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy, and Germantown. Building on over 30 years of dedicated service to the local community, this fund represents a significant expansion of the Club’s ability to create lasting positive change.

A Legacy of Service and Growth

Since its inception, the Chestnut Hill Rotary Club has supported countless local charitable organizations through member donations and fundraising events. As Rotary Club President Jay Pennie noted, “About five years ago, we were under 30 members. Today, we have 46 members and more in the pipeline. This growth enables us to significantly expand our ability to give back to the community.”

Recognizing the need for a sustainable, scalable approach to community investment, the Club established The Fund for Northwest Philadelphia as an endowed resource to benefit the region in perpetuity. Initial grants will be made once the fund exceeds $50,000, with a minimum grant amount of $4,000 per project.

Enhancing Life in Northwest Philadelphia

The Fund will focus on supporting nonprofit organizations that deliver measurable, lasting impacts on the local community. Funding requests will be solicited annually, with Rotary members leveraging their deep understanding of community needs to identify areas of greatest impact.

“We aim to fund projects that deliver long-lasting value to our community,” said Maggie Stoeffel, Service Chair of the Chestnut Hill Rotary Club. “Our unique community includes parks, historic sites, and numerous organizations that serve the poor, aged, and vulnerable. This fund allows us to connect people who want to make a difference with those who need support.”

In addition to local contributions, The Fund will seek to match donations with grants from Rotary International to maximize its impact.

A Commitment to Accountability

Transparency and accountability are central to The Fund’s mission. Organizations receiving grants will be required to report on the use of funds upon project completion. Additionally, an annual report detailing the Fund’s impact will be shared with donors.

How to Give

The Chestnut Hill Rotary invites individuals and businesses to contribute to The Fund for Northwest Philadelphia. Donations can be made online at ChestnutHillRotary.org/fund-for-northwest-phila, where step-by-step instructions are available.

Long-time Rotary member Elliot Schwartz emphasized the importance of broadening community support: “We have traditionally relied on our members and fundraising events to support local organizations. It’s amazing how lots of donations, no matter how large, can suddenly add up to a significant amount.  This fund allows us to expand our reach and bring more people into the effort to enhance life in Northwest Philadelphia.”
