“Thank you so much for helping us prep and set up transitional space for families staying at the Front & Erie house during our renovation,” said Lori-Anne Miller, Director of Volunteer Programs. “You were truly ROCKSTARS at the Ronald McDonald House today!”
Chestnut Hill Rotary volunteers, Carol Bates, Cathy Davis, Mercy Ifiegbu, Jay Pennie, Maggie Stoeffel, and Barbara Wybar worked with Ronald McDonald House staff on Thursday to set up a transitional dining and recreation space for families. The space is needed due to a renovation to the front desk and dining area occurring over the summer months.
In addition to moving tables, chair, refrigerator/freezers and supplies, volunteers built (or at least attempted) and set up toys for the children to play with during their stay.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region supports families on their children’s medical journey with a community of comfort and hope. Their programs include two Ronald McDonald Houses in West and North Philadelphia, three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at local hospitals, Ronald McDonald Camp, and a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, operated in partnership with St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children.
Chestnut Hill Rotary is committed to providing service to the local community, international service, and fundraising to support the club’s priorities. This service project was the first conducted to help Ronald McDonald House. An additional project is scheduled for August 6 at their West Philly location at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
“Our guest families will enjoy a comfortable space to stay during a tough time in their lives, thanks to your hard work,” said Miller. “We appreciate your gifts of time and positive energy to support everyone staying at the Ronald McDonald House.”
