In support of Martin Luther King's birthday on January 20—a day dedicated to encouraging Americans to participate in community service—Chestnut Hill Rotary is conducting a Winter Clothing and Food Drive to benefit clients of Prevention Point Philadelphia.
Rotary is collecting adult scarves, gloves, socks, hats, boots, sleeping bags and supplies for a chili dinner for 200; ground beef, diced tomatoes, beans, rice, and snacks.
“:We encourage members, friends, neighbors to gather and donate warm winter clothing and supplies for a chili dinner for 200,” said Maggie Stoeffel, Community Service Chair. This year’s drive is build off the success of previous years’ projects celebrating MLK’s birthday.
Prevention Point Philadelphia serves thousands of people each year who are experiencing homelessness and substance abuse disorders. Chestnut Hill Rotary members frequently volunteer time and make donations to support their clients.
Members of the public can also drop off donations 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8 and 15, Center on the Hill, Widener Hall, 8855 Germantown Avenue (next to Chestnut Hill Hospital).
