March 8, 2017 - Wyck House and Garden
Club meeting, March 8, 2017 – Wyck Historic House and Garden Although the Wyck House stands not far away at the corner of Germantown Avenue and Walnut Lane, apparently not very many members of the club have visited this historic house, garden, and farm. Wyck is a National Historic Landmark house, garden, and farm, which served as the ancestral home of the Wistar-Haines family from 1690 to 1973. The recently appointed executive director, Jennifer Carlson, gave an overview of the facility and talked about the special programs that she has been working to introduce for the community. March will include a women’s history series (each Saturday, with provisions for children and adults), and a community read program in April. Programs will continue all through the summer months. The garden is particularly well known for its display of roses, including several heirloom varieties.
